This official Glen Scotia, an 18 year old, at 46%. Glen Scotia is a salty, oily Campbeltown malt from the west coast of Scotland. Its malt comes from Greencore Maltings in southwest Scotland.

It was worked through the stills for an oily, coastal make, for a briny, oily make of salt, citrus and a salted toffee. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the salt and oil. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the citrus turning to a salted toffee over the oily body. A gentle maturation suits the oily make, the sea salt and toffee growing with time. It runs a single pair of stills and shell and tube condensers for a slow, oily make. A long ferment gives a fruity make that ages with a coastal, oily grace. Campbeltown, the Wee Toon, once held some thirty distilleries and was the whisky capital of the world. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit.

At an approachable 46% it is soft and coastal. Citrus, salt and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is oily, the fruit carried on a briny body. Citrus, salt and a soft oak see out the finish. This is Glen Scotia's coastal, briny Campbeltown style.
