This official Glen Scotia, a 14 year old, at 40%. Glen Scotia is a salty, oily Campbeltown malt from the west coast of Scotland. A former owner, Duncan MacCallum, drowned in the loch that fed the distillery, and is said to haunt it.

Run through the stills and shell and tube condensers on Crosshill Loch water, building a maritime character of sea salt and oil. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the salty, oily character to the fore. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the salty, oily spirit growing rounder. The maritime setting on the Kintyre coast threads salt and brine through the spirit. The Glen was added to the Scotia name around 1930, the distillery dating to 1832. Maturation in the Campbeltown warehouses, by the sea, lends a coastal edge. Refill oak lets the salty, oily Glen Scotia character lead the way. Its water is drawn from Crosshill Loch above the town.

At 40% it is clean and oily. Salt, citrus and a soft toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is oily and briny, the coastal spirit shining through. A briny finish ends on citrus and a soft oak. This is Glen Scotia's coastal, briny Campbeltown style.
