Glen Keith 20 Years Old 1995 Cask #171243 (Acorn)

From the bottler Acorn, a 20 year old Glen Keith, distilled in 1995, from cask 171243, bottled at 57.1%. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt from Chivas Brothers, light and sweet in style. Its water is drawn from the Balloch Hill spring above Keith.

Worked through the tall stills for a light, sweet make, for the light, fruity make Glen Keith is known for. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. The light, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. It sits within sight of Strathisla, the oldest distillery in Scotland. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and tropical fruit. The tall, narrowing stills give a light spirit that takes the cask well. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit.

At its natural 57.1% it is concentrated. Green apple, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
