Doorly's is one of the everyday brands from Foursquare in St Philip, the Barbados distillery run by Richard Seale and known for a strict no additives stance across its range. This is the entry into that house, a five year old aged in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 40% with nothing added, the budget-friendly way into the classic Bajan style.

It follows the island template, a marriage of rich double-retort pot still rum with lighter column spirit, which gives the balanced, rounded shape Barbados is known for. Five years in ex-bourbon barrels brings vanilla, toffee and caramel with a little woody grip and soft fruit, and because it carries no added sugar the sweetness reads as oak and molasses rather than dosage. Clean and uncomplicated, it suits casual sipping and works just as happily in a long drink.
