Flor de Caña 15 Años ECO

Flor de Cana is Nicaragua's best known rum house, set apart in the Spanish world by adding no sugar to its rums, which gives them a cleaner, drier and more spirit forward character than most of their neighbours. This 15 Anos is a column still molasses rum, slow aged in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40%, the ECO designation nodding to the distillery's sustainability work.

The nose is led by vanilla, oak and a fresh sugar cane note with light caramel, and the palate stays dry and woody with vanilla, oak and spice, finishing on oak, barrel and a creamy, dry edge. The absence of added sugar is the real story, leaving a restrained, honest rum where the wood and spirit do the talking. It steps up nicely from the younger bottlings in age and oak, and rewards anyone who enjoys a light, dry column rum, neat or in a clean cocktail.
