An official release of Fettercairn, a 17 year old, at 47%. Fettercairn is a fruity Highland single malt made at one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries, founded in 1824. It uses unpeated malt and matures mostly in American oak ex-Bourbon casks.

It was worked through the cooling ring stills for a clean, fruity make, building the tropical Fettercairn style. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the tropical fruit. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the tropical fruit turning honeyed and a roasted coffee creeping in. Maturation on site in the Fettercairn dunnage warehouses is slow and steady. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. The cooling rings raise reflux and copper contact, so only the lightest vapours rise, for a tropical spirit. It was founded in 1824 by Sir Alexander Ramsay, who turned a corn mill at Nethermill into a distillery.

At a natural 47% it is full and fruity. A clean, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Mango, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. Citrus, fruit and a soft oak see out the finish. This is Fettercairn, one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries.
