Description
From the German bottler Whisky FAssle, a 12 year old Fettercairn, distilled in 2008, bottled at 52.9%. Fettercairn is a Highland malt of pineapple and citrus, distilled at the foot of the mountains. Its water comes from springs in the Grampian and Cairngorm mountains above the distillery.
Distilled slow and light for the tropical Fettercairn style, the cooling rings lifting a clean, tropical character. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the light, tropical character to the fore. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the tropical, fruity spirit growing rounder. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its pineapple and citrus. It was the second distillery licensed in Scotland after the Excise Act of 1823. Its stills carry unique cooling rings, copper tubes that drench them in cold mountain water.
At a hearty 52.9% it carries real weight. Pineapple, pear and a creamy vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft tropical fruit and a vanilla sit behind the cask. The close is light and warming, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a tropical Highland malt from the foot of the mountains.
