From the London house Berry Bros and Rudd, an 11 year old Fettercairn, distilled in 2006, from cask 107750, bottled at 46%. Fettercairn is a light, tropical Highland malt distilled in the Howe of the Mearns since 1824. Its make matures on site in dunnage warehouses, around thirty two thousand casks in all.

It was worked through the cooling ring stills for a clean, fruity make, for a light, fruit driven spirit. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla to the fruit. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper pineapple and pear. Refill oak lets the light, tropical Fettercairn character lead the way. In 2018 the distillery relaunched with a new core range under maker Gregg Glass. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It uses unpeated malt and matures mostly in American oak ex-Bourbon casks.

At 46% it is clean and soft. A bright, tropical orchard fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Mango, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. It finishes long, fruity and clean. This is a tropical Highland malt from the foot of the mountains.
