A 10 year old Fettercairn, a distillery bottling, from 1993, at 52.5%. Fettercairn is a Highland single malt shaped by the unique cooling rings on its stills. Its make matures on site in dunnage warehouses, around thirty two thousand casks in all.

It was worked through the cooling ring stills for a clean, fruity make, for a clean make of pineapple and citrus. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the pineapple. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the tropical, fruity spirit growing rounder. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. The cool Highland air of the Mearns gives a slow, even maturation in the dunnage warehouses. The cooling rings give a light spirit, so the cask brings depth over the years. American oak suits the tropical make, lending vanilla and coconut over the fruit.

Bottled at a cask strength 52.5%, it is rich. Tropical fruit, vanilla and a soft spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked pineapple and a gentle spice lift it. It finishes long, fruity and clean. This is a tropical Highland malt from the foot of the mountains.
