Fettercairn from the distillery, a 10 year old, at 40%. Fettercairn is a Highland malt of pineapple and citrus, distilled at the foot of the mountains. After Ramsay lost his fortune, the Fasque estate passed to the Gladstone family in 1829.

Distilled slow and light for the tropical Fettercairn style, giving the light, pineapple led Highland spirit. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the fruity spirit. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the pineapple deepening to a mango. Maturation on site in the Fettercairn dunnage warehouses is slow and steady. Its make matures on site in dunnage warehouses, around thirty two thousand casks in all. Long ageing turns the fresh tropical fruit towards dried mango, coffee and a soft spice. The cool Highland air of the Mearns gives a slow, even maturation in the dunnage warehouses.

At 40% it is clean and soft. A light, tropical sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The finish runs long, tropical and warming. This is the light, fruit driven malt of Fettercairn.
