Description
Espolon Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from the house of Espolòn, the brand named for the spur of the fighting cock as a symbol of pride and built as a homage to Mexican history and the engraver José Guadalupe Posada. It is the work of master distiller Cirilo Oropeza, who gives the agave more time than many houses, cooking the hearts for twenty two hours and distilling for more than five.
That slow approach shows in an oily to creamy texture and a profile that opens on cooked agave, pepper, citrus and a touch of vanilla, with grassy and fruity edges. The palate carries agave, citrus, cinnamon, pepper and a note of exotic fruit, and the medium finish stays quietly piquant and pleasantly dry. As a Blanco it gives the clearest read of the cooked agave and the still.
