Description
El Tequileño Reposado comes from La Guarreña in the town of Tequila, the single brand distillery the Salles family has run since 1959. It is a 100% agave tequila drawn from agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco, then combined with the mineral rich spring water that rises near the Volcán de Tequila, a water source the house treats as central to its character. This is the rested expression, given three months in oak against the blanco's fortnight.
The agave is distilled in copper pot stills and laid down for three months in large American oak casks, long enough to draw vanilla and caramel from the wood while the agave still leads. The result carries complex layers of cooked agave, tropical fruit, vanilla, caramel and sweet oak, balanced and savory at 38%, and at home in a Margarita or Paloma as much as in a glass on its own.
