Description
Dona Celia Reposado is a 100% agave reposado tequila built around the Dia de los Muertos figure of La Catrina, the 1910 etching by Jose Guadalupe Posada that became a symbol of the day of the dead. The Blue Weber agave is drawn from both the valley lowlands and the highlands of Jalisco, giving the blend a foot in each of the state's two main terroirs, and the spirit arrives in a hand painted ceramic decanter that is as much of the appeal as the liquid.
The pina is cooked in brick hornos and autoclaves, milled on a roller, fermented in steel tanks in the usual tequila manner and distilled twice. Six months in former bourbon whiskey barrels follow, drawing out oak, vanilla and cinnamon alongside roasted pepper, burnt cherry, caramelised fruit and honey notes, with a soft and supple finish. Bottled at 40%.
