A cask strength Peruvian from Plantation, blending the 2004, 2006 and 2010 vintages of pot and column rum into a warm, woody pour of cinnamon, cognac, toasted oak and burnt sugar with a cherry edge, full bodied at 49.8%.
Description
Plantation Multi Vintage 2004 2006 2010 is a Peruvian ron from Destilerias Unidas in Peru, bottled by Maison Ferrand under the Plantation label. It marries three vintages of pot and column still rum, double aged in the house style and presented here at cask strength of 49.8%, with a younger average age than the dates alone suggest.
Maison Ferrand is known for double maturation in cognac casks and for openly using dosage, so a touch of sweetness is part of the signature rather than long oak alone. The profile is warm and wood led: cinnamon, barrel and toasted oak on the nose, then a cognac like, toasted, woody palate, closing full bodied on burnt sugar, more wood and cherry. There is a cookie, coconut macaroon and cherry sweetness in the finish that lifts it without tipping into cloying, and the strength gives it grip and spice. A characterful, full bodied Peruvian for drinkers who enjoy a sweeter, oak driven cask strength pour.
