This Dailuaine was bottled by the independent Hunter Laing, a 14 year old, at 50%. Dried fruit, malt and a rich, savoury depth run through it, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. It once had its own railway siding and a little locomotive, the Puggy. Single malt Dailuaine is rare, so most come from independents. This is a rich, malty Speyside single malt.

Description
This Dailuaine was bottled by the independent Hunter Laing, a 14 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask HL 18984, bottled at 50%, one of 649 bottles. Dailuaine, whose name is Gaelic for the green vale, is a heavy, full bodied Speysider. It passed to DCL and Scottish Malt Distillers in the 1920s and was later modernised.
It was distilled for the heavy, full bodied spirit Dailuaine is known for, for the rich, full bodied make Dailuaine is known for. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin, fig and walnut to the robust malt. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, fruit deepening to dried fruit. Refill oak lets the robust Dailuaine character lead, malt and dried fruit beneath. The distillery was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie on the banks of the Spey at Carron. The big stills give a heavy spirit that takes a long, sherried maturation in its stride.
At cask strength 50% it is full bodied. Apple, dried fruit and a meaty edge, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked fruit and a warm spice lift it. The close is long, fruit over a rich malt. This is a rich, malty Speyside single malt.
