An official Craigellachie, a 23 year old, at 46%. A robust Speyside malt of pineapple, malt and a savoury edge, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. It keeps its old fashioned worm tub condensers for a heavy, robust spirit. With age the meaty spirit turns to pineapple and tropical fruit. This is a full bodied Speyside malt of real character.

Description
Craigellachie from the distillery, a 23 year old, cask Batch 04-6501, at 46%. Craigellachie is the bold, oily Speyside malt that anchors the White Horse blend. It was launched as a single malt brand in 2014, with a bare knuckle, old fashioned image.
The spirit was worked through stills and worm tubs for a muscular, oily spirit, for a bold, meaty Speyside spirit. A Pedro Ximenez cask added raisin, date and a treacle sweetness. Oxidative, evaporative ageing turns the malt deep and waxy, ethereal esters and a faint sotolon (maple). Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the meaty malt. The robust make rewards long ageing, the meatiness giving way to tropical fruit. The official range runs a thirteen, seventeen and twenty three year old, with rare older bottlings. The distillery was founded in 1891 by a group led by Peter Mackie, the man behind the White Horse blend.
At an approachable 46% it is soft and easy. A robust, oily fruitiness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run meaty malt, tropical fruit and a waxy oil. Tropical fruit, malt and a savoury oak see out the finish. This is Craigellachie's robust, oily Speyside style.
