An official release of Craigellachie, a 13 year old, at 46%. Craigellachie is a robust, fruity Speyside single malt from the heart of the region. With age the meaty young spirit turns to pineapple, mango and a waxy depth.

Worked through stills and worm tubs for a muscular, oily spirit, for the muscular, meaty make Craigellachie is known for. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the meaty character to the fore. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper, tropical fruit over the meaty malt. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the meaty malt. Years in oak round the spirit, the worm tub weight turning to pineapple and wax. The oily spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and tropical fruit over a meaty malt. Long ageing turns the young, sulphurous spirit towards mango, wax and a warm spice.

Reduced to 46%, it is mellow. A heavy, oily maltiness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a savoury, oily depth give it weight. The finish is deep, oily and savoury. This is the muscular, meaty Speyside malt of Craigellachie.
