Description
Connacht Distillery sits on the River Moy in Ballina, Co. Mayo, and this 7 Years Old single cask, cask 3, is among the older statements of its own double distilled malt. Bottled in 2024 for the German market, the outturn was 264 bottles at full cask strength.
First fill bourbon wood laid down vanilla, coconut and orchard fruit before Cabernet-Sauvignon casks added blackcurrant, cherry and a light tannic grip. At 58.4% it is muscular, the wine cask fruit dark and jammy over toasted oak, and dilution draws out honey and cereal, the barley forward character of a young western distillery.
