Description
A Clynelish of a 32 year old chosen by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, distilled in 1990, from cask 3478 + 3482, bottled at 45.9%, one of 219 bottles. Clynelish, on the Sutherland coast, makes one of the most distinctive textures in Scotch, its famous wax. Water comes from the Clynemilton Burn, the spirit drawn off three wash and three spirit stills.
The spirit was drawn off three wash and three spirit stills, to build a waxy, coastal, citrussy spirit. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla beneath the oily, coastal spirit. Ethereal and old, decades draw the malt to a waxy, tropical delicacy of sotolon, beeswax and polished oak. The clean, oily spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and honey over the wax. Most of its make goes to blending, with a fourteen year old the flagship single malt. Clynelish sits on the North Sea coast at Brora, in the far north east of the Highlands.
Bottled at a cask strength 45.9%, it is rich. An oily wax with citrus and brine, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft citrus and a honeyed wax sit behind the cask. Citrus, wax and a faint brine see out the finish. This is the waxy heart of Johnnie Walker Gold.
