Distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2020, this Causeway Collection release was matured through a multi stage cask regime designed to emphasise fortified wine influence and long term wood interaction.

Initial ageing in oloroso sherry butts and ex bourbon barrels established a base of dried fruit sweetness, oak derived vanillins, and structure. The whiskey was then transferred to Sicilian Marsala wine casks for an extended finishing period. Marsala is a fortified wine from western Sicily, historically developed in the late 18th century for long ageing and export, with styles shaped by oxidative maturation, residual sugar concentration, and pronounced dried fruit and nut character. These characteristics translate effectively into whiskey maturation, contributing depth, viscosity, and layered sweetness.

Compared with the later Marsala finished Causeway release distilled in 2000, this 1995 expression presents a deeper and more mature profile. The additional age and sherry led foundation bring darker dried fruit, richer caramelisation, and a more settled oak presence.

Review consensus highlights concentrated notes of raisin, fig, sultana, and apricot, supported by honeycomb sweetness and brown sugar. Secondary flavours of pineapple and papaya appear alongside cinnamon, ginger, and toasted oak spice. On the palate, sweet berry character and caramelised sugar evolve into coffee with milk and dark chocolate, carrying through to a long, composed finish shaped by dried fruit and warm spice.

Bottled at 57.8 percent ABV without chill filtration, the whiskey retains a high level of aromatic intensity and textural weight.
