Fresh citrus and juniper lead, warmed by cinnamon and a soft dusting of spice that gives this Welsh gin its gentle depth. Distilled at Penderyn from grain spirit and a tidy botanical bill, it drinks smooth and refreshing rather than fierce. A quietly confident dry gin with a Brecon Beacons calm about it.

Description
Brecon Special Reserve is the gin side of Penderyn, the Welsh distillery best known for its single malt, and it carries the same care from grain to glass. Built on a clean grain spirit, it is refined with juniper, coriander, cinnamon and orange and lemon peel alongside a handful of supporting herbs and spices, a recipe aimed at balance rather than spectacle. The clarity in the glass is a fair signal of the clarity in the flavour.
The nose offers fresh citrus, juniper and a light spiciness. The palate is soft and even, coriander and cinnamon threading through orange and lemon peel, before a dry, refreshing finish marked by a final flick of spice. Lovely in a G&T with a slice of grapefruit, or stirred into a Negroni where its spice can hold its own.
