Description
Bosco del Merlo makes this single-vintage Prosecco Rosé DOC from Glera blended with Pinot Noir, the grape that gives the wine its pink colour and berry character, from vineyards on the mineral rich soils of northern Italy. It is produced by the tank method, with both fermentations carried out in temperature controlled stainless steel, which keeps the wine off oak and protects the fresh red and orchard fruit. The brut dosage keeps it dry, and as a millesimato it is drawn from a single vintage for a consistent, fruit led style meant to be drunk young.
The colour is a delicate rosé with a fine, persistent bead. The nose shows strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate with a lychee note, backed by pear and white flowers. The palate is dry and fresh, the red fruit clean and lively, a fine mousse carrying it to a clear finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass or flute. It makes an easy aperitif and suits salmon and other fish, grilled vegetables and lighter poultry.
