Description
Astoria makes this single-vintage rosé in the Treviso plains from Glera blended with a share of Pinot Noir, the grape that gives Prosecco Rosé DOC its colour and berry character. The wine is produced by the Charmat method, with both the base fermentation and the second fermentation carried out in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Keeping the wine in tank rather than bottle and away from oak protects the fresh red and orchard fruit, while the brut dosage keeps it dry. As a millesimato it is drawn from one vintage, giving a consistent, fruit driven style meant to be drunk young.
The colour is a bright pale pink with a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose it shows strawberry, raspberry and red currant alongside white peach and pear, with a floral note on top. The palate is light and dry, the red fruit fresh and clean, acidity keeping the finish crisp. Serve chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass or flute. It works as an aperitif and pairs happily with summer salads, white fish and lighter poultry dishes.
