Description
Astoria works in the Veneto, and this Galie takes Glera from the traditional vineyards around Treviso, where a mild climate suits balanced, aromatic Prosecco. It is a Prosecco DOC made in the tank method, the second fermentation run in pressurised tanks to keep the fruit fresh and produce the fine perlage. Finished Extra Dry, it carries a rounder profile than a Brut, the gentle sweetness set against the wine's natural freshness. There is no lees ageing here; the style leans on ripe orchard and stone fruit and an easy, open character.
The colour is a brilliant white gold with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is fragrant, with apricot and hawthorn, open and giving. The palate is fruity, showing dried apricot and a hint of blossom honey, the finish soft, harmonious and long. Serve at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass or flute. It makes an aperitif and pairs with antipasti, bruschetta, mild cheese, seafood, sushi and light fish, and can carry through to a fruit dessert.
