A seventeen year old Worthy Park single cask from Asta Morris under its Rasta Morris label, dry and unsweetened, classic banana and black tea with vanilla, oak and orange peel over a spicy, lightly briny finish at a manageable 52.7%.
Description
Belgium's Asta Morris bottled this Worthy Park under its Rasta Morris rum line, a 2005 single cask at 52.7%, unsweetened and seventeen years old. Worthy Park is a single estate, 100% pot still distillery with a clean, precise house style, and at this age its character comes through polished and well defined rather than wild.
Molasses fermentation and pot still distillation give the signature banana, ripe and green, while long ageing in ex-bourbon oak adds black tea, vanilla and oak with a twist of orange peel. The palate stays dry and savoury, banana and black tea over oak, finishing with spice, a caramelised note and a touch of brine. It is a longer aged, drier take on the estate that keeps Worthy Park's hallmark banana and tea front and centre, with enough strength to hold attention while remaining easy to drink.
