Arran Private Cask 6 Years Old 2011

Younger Private Cask releases at six to seven years old capture the Arran spirit signature at the point where the new make character remains very forward and the cask interaction sits in its early integration phase. This 2011 vintage 6 Year Old was bottled in 2017 for the German market from cask 2011/1835, with the higher cask number reflecting later year filling within the 2011 production calendar. The 285 bottle outturn reflects the working yield of a single ex Bourbon hogshead at six years.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2011 and matured six years in a single ex Bourbon American oak cask. Bottled in 2017 at the natural cask strength of 52.1% without chill filtration and without added colour.

Six years of ex Bourbon maturation produces early phase cask integration, with the underlying Arran spirit signature very visible and the cask supplying initial vanillin, whisky lactones and the developing toasted sugar layer from American oak hemicellulose breakdown. The 52.1% cask strength preserves the full lipid fraction and the textural weight of the unfiltered spirit at the natural ABV of the working cask.
