Arran Limited Edition 18 Years Old 1998

The Limited Edition single cask programme at Arran is the distillery's own format for releasing individual casks under the official Arran name, distinct from the Private Cask scheme where customer owned casks must be presented under non Arran labels. Limited Edition releases reflect master distiller selection from the working warehouse inventory, with cask 894 from the 1998 vintage drawn for the event release in 2016 at eighteen years old.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 1998 and matured eighteen years in a single Oloroso seasoned cask. Bottled in 2016 at 53.7% without chill filtration and without added colour, with the 310 bottle outturn reflecting the working yield of the single cask.

Eighteen years of Oloroso cask maturation produces deep integration of the sherry compound layer with the underlying Arran spirit signature, with sotolon, furfural and the oxidised polyphenol fraction from the original wine ageing well developed alongside the residual citric and stone fruit ester character from the 1998 new make. The cask sits at the mature integration phase characteristic of long aged Arran Oloroso single casks.
