Warehouse No. 1 is a sub series within Claxton's portfolio focused on cask strength single cask single malts at the eight to twelve year cask point, sitting alongside the flagship The Single Cask range that targets older inventory. The Warehouse No. 1 presentation provides an entry point into Claxton's cask selection at more accessible price points than the longer matured releases. Cask C22054 was sourced for the series at the ten year point from 2011 distilled Arran stock.
Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2011 and matured ten years in a single ex Bourbon American oak cask referenced C22054 in Claxton's working inventory. Bottled in 2022 at the natural cask strength of 56.3% without chill filtration and without added colour.
Ten years of ex Bourbon maturation produces measured cask interaction, with vanillin, cis whisky lactones and the toasted sugar layer from American oak hemicellulose breakdown developing against the underlying Arran spirit signature from the 2011 distillation year. The 56.3% cask strength preserves the full lipid fraction and the textural weight of the unfiltered spirit.
