Ardbeg 15 Years Old 1993 (Cadenhead’s)

Bond Reserve is one of several Cadenhead's bottling programmes, sitting alongside the Authentic Collection (1989 launch, the flagship single cask range) and Chairman's Stock. Each programme serves a slightly different positioning within the J&A Mitchell owned bottler's range, with Bond Reserve typically used for selected casks released in smaller batches with simpler presentation than the Authentic Collection's documented single cask format.

Filled into refill bourbon hogshead in 1993 during Allied Distillers's intermittent reopening and matured for fifteen years before bottling in 2008 at 57% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour. The 1993 vintage represents bridge stock from the cash strapped reopening years before the 1996 final closure, with Cadenhead's having acquired the casks from Allied during the off loading period.

Fifteen years of refill bourbon maturation builds the modern mid age expression curve. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) build at expressive concentration, hemicellulose breakdown furans (furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural) deliver caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde layer vanilla and baking spice. The 1993 Allied era peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) carry strong intensity at this age with moderate oxidative conversion emerging.
