Description
An Fear Grinn is the Irish whiskey label of Whiskey Factor, a Belgian bottler, and Móinteach, from the Irish for bogland, signals the peated malt inside. This second edition was distilled at The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth, the independent giant that supplies much of modern Irish whiskey, and was bottled in 2022 at 46% in an edition of 1,900 bottles for the Belgian market.
Maturation in bourbon casks keeps the frame simple so the rare peated Irish malt can speak: lemon zest and vanilla up front, then a lightly medicinal smoke that stays fragrant rather than tarry, with sweet cereal underneath. It carries no age statement, and its youth reads as freshness, a bright, smoky malt in the Irish register that finishes on citrus peel and soft embers.
