Description
Adam-Lieleg is a Styrian family winery, and Blanc de Lys brings together traditional regional grapes with modern fungus-resistant PIWI varieties. The cuvee of Muscaris, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling and an aromatic Muskateller gives a floral, aromatic profile with fine freshness. This is a tank-fresh frizzante rather than a bottle-aged sparkling wine, keeping the primary floral and citrus character to the front. The deliberate use of PIWI grapes cuts the need for vineyard spraying, part of the estate's move towards more sustainable farming.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a fine, lively perlage. The nose shows elderflower, citrus, nutmeg and white flowers. The palate is fresh and lively, with a fine acid structure, aromatic fruit and a trace of residual sweetness balanced by the Brut style, closing on a fruity, gently spiced finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a flute or tulip glass. It makes a floral aperitif and pairs with light starters, summer salads, fish and fresh vegetable dishes.
