Description
Chinaco Anejo is a 100% Blue Weber tequila and the only tequila made in the northern state of Tamaulipas, produced at Tequilera La Gonzalena under NOM 1127. The house pioneered non Jalisco tequila and ultra fine exports to the United States in the early 1980s, and the family lineage runs to German Gonzalez, distiller of Tears of Llorona.
Well past the one year anejo minimum, this spends thirty months in casks once filled with French and English white oak Scotch as well as American bourbon, an unusual barrel mix that builds soft, rich complexity meant to drink like a fine cognac. The nose offers pear, wildflower, vanilla, a wisp of smoke and baked apple rounded with papaya and mango, while the palate is deep and balanced, closing on a lush, spicy, smoky finish. Bottled at 40%.
