Description
Cimarron is the accessible, agave-forward blanco from Enrique Fonseca, one of the largest agave growers in Jalisco, made at his La Tequileña distillery under NOM 1146 in the Los Altos highlands. Fonseca is the same hand behind Tears of Llorona, a benchmark extra anejo, which makes this plain, screw-capped one litre bottle of 100% Blue Weber agave tequila a quietly serious pour, and a bartender favourite in the United States.
It is additive-free, with the agave left to speak. The nose is hearty agave with pepper, citrus and olive, plus vanilla and a touch of cinnamon. The palate carries cooked agave, pepper, vegetal and earthy notes, citrus, vanilla and a flash of raw agave that keeps it lively. Highland origin lends the citrus and roundness. Bottled at 40%.
