Description
Gran Padre Añejo is a 100% agave tequila made in the same traditional manner as the house blanco, offered as a quieter alternative to the familiar mainstream brands. Against the reposado it carries far more of the typical oak character, the longer time in barrel pulling it well clear of the blanco.
The quartered agave hearts are roasted for thirty six hours in stone hornos, pressed on a roller mill, fermented in steel tanks with the house yeast and distilled twice. The añejo then rests twenty months in American oak casks. The nose shows vanilla, almond, olive tapenade, caramel and green herbs, while the palate gives roasted agave wrapped in vanilla and oak over a smooth texture, reduced to 40%.
