Description
Gran Padre Blanco is a 100% agave tequila pitched as an honest, traditional alternative to the usual big names, cooked the old way and carrying a faint smoke note more often met in light mezcal. It stands up well neat and holds its agave character in a margarita, a value minded blanco that puts the plant first.
The quartered agave hearts are roasted for thirty six hours in stone hornos and pressed on a roller mill, then fermented in the steel tanks typical for tequila with the house's own yeast before a double distillation. The nose offers agave, green olive, roasted pepper, sweet potato, creamy nougat and green apple skin. The palate is a peppery agave punch, intensely roasted with that light smoke and a clean black pepper note, reduced to a comfortable 40%.
