Aromatic Sardinian juniper drives this one, intense and resinous, lifted by Mediterranean herbs, rosemary and a clean citrus freshness. Made by Silvio Carta from island botanicals, its name borrows the Sardinian word for gin itself. Dry, elegant and unmistakably of the sea.
Description
From Silvio Carta in Sardinia, Boigin takes its name from the Sardinian word for gin and builds itself around the island's own intensely aromatic juniper. Hand-picked Mediterranean herbs and citrus fruits join it, gently distilled so the botanicals keep their natural lift, capturing something of the sun-baked Sardinian hillside in the glass.
The nose is fresh and aromatic, juniper meeting Mediterranean herbs and fine citrus. The palate is dry and elegant, with citrus peel, rosemary and a hint of coriander framing that resinous juniper core. The finish is long and spicy with a clean herbal edge. Made for a gin and tonic with a Mediterranean tonic and a sprig of rosemary, and a natural companion to seafood and antipasti.
