Description
Mintis comes from a small Piedmontese distillery in Moncalieri, on the edge of Turin, run by Carlo Vergnano with his wife and daughter and a few employees. Master distiller Denis Muni, with two decades behind him, takes the spirit through a customised vacuum still for eight hours at a low 60 degrees, a method that preserves the bright, aromatic character of the botanicals. Every bottle is signed by hand. This release builds around fresh clementine and northern Italian mint.
The nose is fresh and fruity, juniper underpinning clementine, mint and lemon. The palate follows with juicy clementine and lemon peel, a cooling thread of mint and juniper holding the structure together. The finish runs long and citrus-sweet. It makes a lovely Clementina Negroni, equal parts gin, Campari and a good red Italian vermouth, stirred over ice.
