Description
A 3 Years Old single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, distilled in 2016 at its Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled in 2019 at cask strength, 50% ABV, for the German market. Released under the White Oak label, the name under which Eigashima markets its distillery-direct expressions, it represents one of the younger age statements in the house's single malt output.
Three years in Oloroso sherry casks gives the light Eigashima new make a pronounced sherried character early in its development: dried fruit, warming spice and a soft sweetness appear even at this age, sitting alongside the cereal and maritime notes the distillery's spirit typically carries. The cask strength bottling preserves the full impact of the wood at a young age. No specific flavour notes were recorded for this expression, but the Oloroso influence at three years is typically the dominant feature.
