Description

N. Kroger Foursquare Wagemut XO is a Barbados rum bottled by the German house N. Kroger using Foursquare distillate, finished in sherry casks. Foursquare, Richard Seale's celebrated distillery, makes its rum strictly without added sugar, colour or flavour, so the softness here comes from cask and age rather than dosage.

Built on a pot and column blend of molasses rum, aged around 18 years and finished in sherry before bottling at a gentle 43.8%, it is soft, fruity and mildly spiced: vanilla, grapes and oak on the nose, then woody, barrel led spice and vanilla on the palate, with caramel and light chocolate through the finish. The sherry adds a fruity roundness while the rum stays balanced and unsweetened. The moderate strength and easy character make it a comfortable introduction to dry Foursquare for anyone used to softer, slightly sweeter rums.
