An official Glendullan, a 19 year old, 2001, at 54.6%. Green apple, pear and a light grass, with a grapey, raisined warmth from the cask. A long fermentation gives a green, grassy, lightly fruity spirit. A second distillery was built alongside in 1972, the original closing in 1985. This is Glendullan’s green, lightly fruity Speyside style.

Description
A distillery release of Glendullan, a 19 year old, from 2001, at 54.6%. Glendullan is a Speyside single malt known for a green, grassy, lightly fruity style. It runs long fermentations and a slow distillation for a green, grassy, lightly fruity spirit. Most of its make has always gone to blends, above all Diageo's Old Parr.
The spirit was taken gently through wash and spirit stills, giving a fresh, lightly fruity Speyside spirit. It married ex-Bourbon oak and a Cognac cask, the wood working into the fruity malt. Through oxidative maturity the esters concentrate, the orchard fruit turning to mango, pineapple and a waxy honey. Years in oak deepen the spirit to gold, the body growing rounder with time. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit. Maturation runs slow and even in the warehouses at Dufftown.
At a natural 54.6% it is full and creamy. Green apple, pear and a light grass, with a grapey, raisined warmth from the cask. A light orchard fruit and a soft spice give it shape. The finish runs fresh, grassy and clean. This is a light, grassy Speyside single malt.
