A Glen Mhor of a 25 year old from Campbell and Clark, at 45%. A full, oily orchard fruit runs through it. The fuller, oilier of the lost Inverness malts. Built in 1892 by John Birnie and the blender Charles Mackinlay. Its worm tubs gave the full, oily body Glen Mhor was known for. This is a finite single malt from a lost Inverness distillery.

A Glen Mhor of a 25 year old chosen by Campbell and Clark, distilled in 1970, from cask 1970 1164/1166, bottled at 45%, one of 1926 bottles. Glen Mhor was an Inverness distillery whose worm tubs gave it a rich, oily body. It passed to the Distillers Company in 1972 and was closed in 1983.

This was worked through the stills and worm tubs for a rich, oily body, for the full, oily make Glen Mhor was known for. Decades in ex-Bourbon oak drew out vanilla and a waxy, oily depth. At this evaporative stage ellagitannins lend a drying structure while oxidation builds a richer, oily fruit. Active wood frames the fruit without smothering the full, oily spirit. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the oily, waxy core over the decades. The writer Neil Gunn, an Inverness exciseman, famously praised Glen Mhor above all. Years in oak round the spirit, the orchard fruit deepening to dried fruit and beeswax. No more will ever be made, the distillery silent since 1983.

Bottled at 45%, it is rounded. A full, oily orchard fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is rich and oily, the full spirit shining through. Apple, wax and a soft oak see out the finish. This is Glen Mhor's full, oily old Highland style.
