The Campbeltown house Cadenhead bottled this Fettercairn, a 10 year old, distilled in 2008, bottled at 56.6%, one of 264 bottles. Fettercairn is a light, tropical Highland malt distilled in the Howe of the Mearns since 1824. In 2018 the distillery relaunched with a new core range under maker Gregg Glass.

Drawn off the stills, the cooling rings raising reflux for a fruity spirit, giving the light, pineapple led Highland spirit. Finished in a Pinot Noir cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the tropical, fruity spirit growing rounder. The cooling rings give a light spirit, so the cask brings depth over the years. Mountain spring water and the cooling rings give the tropical Fettercairn make. It was founded in 1824 by Sir Alexander Ramsay, who turned a corn mill at Nethermill into a distillery.

At a hearty 56.6% it carries real weight. Mango, citrus and a soft honey, with a light red berry and a dry edge from the cask. The mouthfeel is clean, the fruit carried on a light body. It finishes long, fruity and clean. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
