An official release of Fettercairn, a 23 year old, at 48.5%. Fettercairn is a fruity Highland single malt made at one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries, founded in 1824. After Ramsay lost his fortune, the Fasque estate passed to the Gladstone family in 1829.

Made on mountain water with the stills drenched in cold water, giving the light, pineapple led Highland spirit. A Cognac cask held it, shaping the light spirit over the years. In the oxidative, evaporative years concentration brings dried tropical fruit, a roasted coffee and a soft spice. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the tropical fruit growing richer with time. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its pineapple and citrus. It uses unpeated malt and matures mostly in American oak ex-Bourbon casks. A Scottish oak project has planted thousands of native oak saplings beside the distillery.

At 48.5%, undiluted, it is deep and tropical. Pineapple, citrus and a soft vanilla, with a grapey, raisined sweetness from the cask. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The finish runs long, tropical and warming. This is a tropical Highland malt from the foot of the mountains.
