Dalmore 14 Years Old AtB Darkness (Atom Brands)

From the bottler Atom Brands, a 14 year old Dalmore, bottled at 49.1%. Dalmore is a rich, marmalade and dark chocolate Highland single malt of real opulence. The Dalmore range climbs to some of the oldest and most expensive whiskies in the world.

It was worked through flat topped and water jacketed stills for a rich, oily spirit, for a heavy, rich make that suits aged sherry wood. Maturation in an Oloroso butt laid dried fruit, treacle and dark chocolate over the oily malt. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the sherry, fruit deepening to chocolate and orange. Years in oak round the spirit, the fruit deepening to chocolate, marmalade and treacle. The full bodied make rewards a long, sherried maturation in good wood. Refill oak lets the full bodied Dalmore character lead, orange and dried fruit beneath.

At cask strength 49.1% it is full bodied. Marmalade, chocolate and a malty depth, with dried fruit, chocolate and orange from the cask. Marmalade, chocolate and dried fruit fill the middle. The finish is long, rich and chocolatey. This is a rich, full bodied Highland single malt.
