Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 1992 MBl The Maltman (Meadowside Blending) is a blended malt Scotch from Meadowside Blending. It vats malts from several distilleries, Cardhu lending a soft Speyside heart. Cardhu is one of the most famous of the women built distilleries of Speyside.

The Cardhu within gives a gentle apple and pear note. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. The pear shaped stills give a light spirit that ages with grace. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards honey, dried fruit and a soft spice. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Cardhu warehouses. Refill oak lets the light, honeyed Cardhu character lead the way. It was founded in 1824 by John Cumming, whose wife Helen ran it and flew a flag to warn of the excisemen.

At cask strength 47.6% it is full bodied. Soft orchard fruit, honey and a gentle spice run through it, smooth and approachable. Pear, honey and a creamy malt fill the middle. A long, honeyed finish carries an orchard fruit. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
