This Tormore, an official release, aged 13 year old from 2012, drawn from cask 921189 and bottled at 55.3%. The outturn was 233 bottles. Founded in 1958 a mile south of the River Spey, Tormore is a grand Speyside distillery. Purifiers on the spirit stills keep the spirit light and clean.

It was drawn off the distillery's swan neck stills with their purifiers, for a delicate, ester rich spirit. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. By this age the light spirit rounds into nutty fruit and a soft honey. Sherry wood suits the light make, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. Tormore is cleaner than the waxy Clynelish, with more weight than the lightest Speysiders. The new owners released a Blueprint Series of 10 year olds in 2025 ahead of a full range. Its rise in 1958 broke a long pause in distillery building that had lasted decades. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery.

At 55.3%, undiluted, it is deep and nutty. A gentle vanilla from the wood runs under green apple, nut and a soft spice. It is fine and nutty, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish runs light, citrussy and fresh. This is a light, almond edged Speyside single malt.
