Tormore 16 Years Old Cask #Batch B1309

This official Tormore single malt, aged 16 year old, drawn from cask Batch B1309 and bottled at 48%. Founded in 1958 near Grantown-on-Spey in Speyside, Tormore is a grand Speyside distillery. Elixir Distillers bought it in 2022 and are reviving it as a single malt brand.

It was worked through swan neck stills with purifiers, for the light, clean, nutty make Tormore is known for. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. Around the mid teens the malt gains a fuller nutty depth over the citrus. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the nutty, citrussy core over time. It has used wood chips from local forestry to fire its stills since 1984. For most of its life its spirit vanished quietly into blends rather than into bottles of its own. Elixir Distillers bought Tormore in 2022 and are reviving it as a single malt brand. Most of the spirit matures off site, much of it in refill ex-Bourbon wood.

At a hearty 48% it carries real weight. A light, nutty fruitiness meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Beneath it run almond, apple and a soft spice. It finishes clean, fresh and nutty. This is a light, nutty Speyside single malt.
