Tormore 14 Years Old Cask #Batch A1308

This Tormore, an official release, a 14 year old release, drawn from cask Batch A1308 and bottled at 43%. Set in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, Tormore has distilled since 1960. Water comes from the Achvochkie Burn, flowing off the granite hills above.

Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, soft oak that lets the nut and fruit lead. Past a decade the nut deepens into almond, honey and a riper orchard fruit. The purifiers raise reflux, giving the clean, nutty spirit Tormore is known for. The new owners released a Blueprint Series of 10 year olds in 2025 ahead of a full range. Its rise in 1958 broke a long pause in distillery building that had lasted decades. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986.

At 43% it is soft, nutty and clean. A nutty, orchard fruit sweetness sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. A green apple and a citrus note lift it. The close is clean, nut over orchard fruit. This is the architectural jewel of Speyside in a glass.
