A distillery bottling of Cu Bocan, bottled at 46%. Just 8400 bottles were filled. Cù Bòcan is the peated single malt of Tomatin distillery, made in the Highland hills south of Inverness. Cu Bocan takes its name from a spectral hound said to haunt the Tomatin hills.

Distilled from peated malt in copper stills on Allt na Frithe water, giving a soft wood smoke over the fruit. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla under the smoke. Carrying no age, it leans on wood smoke, apple and a sweet malt. Years in oak round the smoke, the peat mellowing with the fruit. Special releases like Decades and Warehouse 6 have marked the distillery's milestones. Cold, clean water runs down to the distillery from the hills above. Under Japanese stewardship the focus turned from sheer volume to quality. The very long fermentation is central to the distillery's fruity character. The distillery sits beside the A9, the old road north to Inverness.

Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. A soft wood smoke over apple and pear, and vanilla and a soft oak come from the bourbon wood. The mouthfeel is soft, the smoke carried on a fruity body. A long, smoky finish carries a fruity sweetness. This is Cu Bocan, the peated malt of Tomatin.
