This official Tomatin single malt matured to 27 year old from 1988 and bottled at 50%. 1800 bottles in all. Tomatin is a Highland single malt distilled in the hills south of Inverness, where the distillery was founded in 1897. Water comes from the Allt na Frithe, the burn of the deer, in the Monadhliath hills.

It was worked through onion stills for a light, fruity spirit, for the soft, fruity Highland make Tomatin is known for. A wine cask shaped it, the fruit meeting the soft spirit. Long ageing brings a deeper dried fruit character and a soft oak spice. Refill oak lets the fruity Tomatin character lead, apple over honey. It closed in 1906 and reopened in 1909, finding its feet over the following decades. The Antiquary blend came into the group through the blender J and W Hardie. Malt is bought in, the distillery's own floor maltings having closed in the 1980s. For most of its life the distillery rarely ran to its full capacity.

At cask strength 50% it is full bodied. A mellow, fruity character, and the Port cask adds plum and red berry. It is gentle and fruity, the soft spirit shining through. A fruity, lightly spiced finish lingers. This is the soft, fruity Highland malt of Tomatin.
